Transcript of video: You can view an event or topic from many perspectives.
From different points of view, different features seem important. You can even take the perspective of ideas, and ask what features are important for those ideas. Use ThinkBlocks to explore multiple perspectives on a topic, at many levels of abstraction and detail. Place a topic to discuss in the center of your playspace.  We choose LIFE ON EARTH, but you can use any topic. Place ThinkBlocks around the topic and label them with things that have perspective on LIFE ON EARTH, such as BOB, COW or VIRUS.  Aim their perspective surface at the topic, and discuss each of their perspectives and how they differ. Now label the blocks with more general perspectives, BIOLOGY, or ASTRONOMY.  Discuss LIFE ON EARTH from the perspective of these conceptual frameworks…what does CHEMISTRY have to say about life on earth, etc.  Next, explore more specific ideas from these frameworks, such as EVOLUTION or CREATIONISM.  What do these ideas have to say about LIFE ON EARTH. You can use this activity to explore an unlimited number of perspectives on any topic, at any level of detail. This activity teaches your child to analyze what makes up the perspectives of conceptual systems, and to apply multiple perspectives to a single topic.  This helps them develop an integrated understanding of any phenomenon from the viewpoint of multiple disciplines or ideologies.
